Sermon on the Mount – Jesus' Beatitudes
The Sermon on the Mount is not one sermon of Jesus given at one particular time and on one particular occasion. It is the essence of all that Jesus continuously and habitually taught his disciples. The word “Beatitude” comes from the first words of Jesus' teaching beginning at Matthew 5:3, beati sunt, (in Latin) meaning“blessed are.”

The resource below is William Barclay's Commentary on what we call, Jesus' "Sermon the Mount" from Matthew chapters 5-7. Luke's Gospel also contains a record of it, but Matthew's Gospel is more detailed.
